Rep. Elaine Luria, a Maryland Democrat, told Fox News Sunday that the select committee will be filing its final report to the House Clerk this week and making the non-sensitive portions of that report available to the public by the end of the year. The committee is preparing to make its criminal referrals against President Trump and his attorney, John Eastman. Raskin said the committee has gathered sufficient evidence to make criminal referrals against both under statutes that outlaw obstruction and conspiracy to defraud the United States. As a result of the investigation, the committee is also recommending that Congress take steps to ensure that the same thing doesn’t happen again. The recommendations are expected to be made in the final report of the select committee, which is due to the full House this fall. Ahead of the 2024 elections, there is talk that the BCCI will move away from the zonal system in favour of a panel that will have more members and less power for each member, although the job description includes the stipulation that the committee must “select captain in each format” — an indication that the remit might be expanded to include split captaincy. The Committee of Administrators has increased the remuneration of the members of the national selectors’ committee in order to provide greater incentive for them to continue with their good work in the future. The chairman of the national selectors’ committee will now receive a total salary of INR 1.25 crore per annum, up from INR 60 lakhs earlier. The other members of the national selectors’ committee will continue to receive a salary of INR 1.2 lakh per annum, same as before. The committee is charged with assessing the applications received from cities vying for the WDC designation. The committee vets each city’s bid based on a number of criteria, including the city’s ability to organize and finance a year-long program of design events; its capacity to mobilize and involve large sectors of the local community in the design event; and its contribution to global urban development strategies. The EOAC oversees compliance with the Town’s equal opportunity and minority participation goals on municipal and contracted projects. The EOAC holds monthly meetings on the second Wednesday of the month. The 845-page report — based on a year and a half of investigation, 1,000-plus interviews, text messages, phone records, emails, and more than a million pages of documents — alleges that Trump directed and coordinated the legally dubious plan to put forward fake slates of electors in states he lost. The report says the effort was “a clear attempt to undermine democracy.” The committee’s executive summary first released Monday said lawmakers have evidence that could lead to criminal charges against Trump, including obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiring to make false statements, assisting or aiding insurrection and seditious conspiracy. It also includes details of how Trump campaign and Republican National Committee fundraising pitches containing false claims of election fraud raised more than $250 million from supporters. It also includes quotes from Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, who told the committee that he was unaware of any definitive proof that voting machines had been tampered with, despite making such claims in public. The report cites 68 contacts between Trump and state or local officials, involving either in-person meetings, telephone calls or text messages aimed at those officials, or social media posts by Trump or his aides targeting those officials. In the days leading up to January 6, the report says, Trump latched onto one of Eastman’s theories and made a series of phone calls requesting that Pence intervene when Congress certified the Electoral College results. The report says the phone calls and a meeting between Trump and Pence in the Oval Office included “a litany of false election-fraud claims” that Pence tried to convince the president to drop. Ultimately, the panel concluded that there is sufficient evidence to refer both Trump and his lawyer, John Eastman, under statutes that outlaw obstruction and conspiracy to defraud the United States. It also recommends that Congress pass legislation aimed at overhauling the 1887 law requiring an Electoral College vote be ratified by Congress to make it harder to overturn a presidential election. The committee’s executive summary also makes recommendations for how the House can better encourage civility and bipartisanship. Each branch oversees a different function of national leadership. This system of checks and balances ensures that no one branch has too much power. Many governments around the world provide services that benefit their citizens. These services can include things like education, health care, and roads. Governments may also provide social programs that help the poor or needy, such as food stamps and welfare benefits. Some economists believe that it is the duty of governments to solve problems that cannot be solved by market forces alone. For example, when polluting industries harm people and animals, it is not possible for victims to pursue justice on their own. Governments are expected to protect the environment and the safety of citizens, so they can regulate businesses in this manner.
